    Conversion Rate Design w/ a Weak Shopping Cart


    Its hard trying to improve conversion rates when your shopping cart is pretty weak. Weak meaning: no flexibility, no customization and no abilty to develop the customer experience. This is where I have learned to hack the front end of the ecommerce solution. Most of the time you can at least edit the header image (hopefully without a fixed HTML size).

    So here is how I recently completed my hack "Conversion Rate Design w/ a Weak Shopping Cart". The header image has no fixed with so I increases the height to make the shopping cart look bigger, cleaned up the logo and added some credibility with the CEO ensuring that they will not steal your money.     Overall the client has been pleased. The new site has only been up for a month and I recently recieved this comment:

    Alex,
    In January we had an all time record in sales on our web site. Its only $422.00 but it is growing.

    We have collected more email address too. We get, maybe 1 or 2 everday and before the old site produced only 1 per month.
