Designing For Conversion Improvements with Baby Steps

Recently I have been approached by several companies looking to outsource their creative services for sales funnel and ecommerce solutions. Its seems that a lot of the marketing / consulting agencies around the country have great sales and analytics capabilities but they do not have in-house creative departments.

Why does sales funnel design seem so difficult?
The bottom line is that this process takes patience and YEARS of trial and error to understand design solutions before touching PhotoShop. This is why the discovery and proposal phase is so important with my projects. I need to fully understand the potential problems I will run into beforehand to avoid wasting time later. Then you better undertstand the clients objectives and find the "lowest hanging fruit" to get the most immediate results. Too many times I have seen executives rush into what they think is going to improve conversion and ends ups barely (if any) moving the needle.

Plan for design, understand your objectives (KPI - Key Performance Indicators) and learn from your mistakes. In the end, it is better to spend 2 weeks on a prototype that is perfect than 6 months on a failure design. It in the end, it is more important for my clients business to be successful without having them waste money. Sales funnel creative design needs to be done in baby steps to get the best results.

Florida Early Voting

Yesterday I voted early in the Broward County. It was a interesting experience, just waiting the 2 hours gave me my patrioitic contribution for the next 4 years. There were some interesting things I noticed.

1. I did see the election lawyers from the Kerry Campaign. Supposedly they were there to make the election goes smoothly and allow everyone to vote. I really wanted to see some of the Micheal Moore independent film makers though.
2. Some of the Florida amendments were confusing and wordy, even after reading it twice.
3. The electronic voting booth was super easy, hopefully they dont get hacked. :-)

Overall, I am happy I voted and did the early experience. Interesting to see todays outcome.
