Lately I have been doing all the
New NetSuite Website Designs for a resolution of 1024x768. This is tricky because you need to make sure you are not losing revenue from customers that have older monitors in 800x600.
There are a lot of benefits to using the entire real estate of the screen. This includes adding more promotional areas, making your company look bigger and not being limited to just the left side navigation.
But there are also some negatives. The first being that it is harder to develop and maintain. That right column needs to be used properly, if it remains stall then you it is basically wasted. Or you can just not added to the content template and you will only see it on the hard coded pages. Such as the homepage which is usually a web hosted hard coded page mainly for SEO and flexibility purposes.
The other negative is that you need make up for 800x600 users. For instance this
Sunless Tanning Product website was developed with the shopping cart in the top right. Now that VIEW CART button is not seen 800x600 users. But users can easily still CHECK OUT, so that's not the major issue. The check out for 800x600 now all happens within the body of the page, where 90% of the check out happens anyway.
But you need to weight your options. There are a lot of websites going strictly 1024. Look at the sports websites, like ESPN or Sportsline, plus ecommerce sites like Crutchfield or even Marketwatch.
Here are some more netsuite website that are done for 1024.
