I love when a new website is finished and then picked up with PR. You can also call it corporate viral marketing, but it works. The word of mouth goes out about a new redesign and the buzz causes a chain reaction. This particular client is also using MySpace as a viral marketing tool to increase the buzz about their
independent films. Here is an example of the viral marketing buzz...
York Entertainment has re-launched itÂs domestic video website (www.yorkentertainment.com) with eyes on using future-technology to distribute and market films directly to consumers.
YorkÂs new Movie Club was designed to allow the individual consumer access to monthly discounts on new releases when purchased direct from the website. The first Movie Club promotion for 'Season of Youth' has already garnered enormous sales, and within 2 weeks topped YorkÂs Top 10 web sales chart.
As Internet marketing paves the way for a paperless society, York has implemented the use of ultra-popular Myspace.com and created a site on their new 'Myspace Film' network (www.myspace.com/yorkentertainment) which features exclusive trailers, special offers and new release info.
Foreseeing a pending shift in traditional DVD media dominance, York has also partnered with Cinema Now to make its hottest titles available as direct PC downloads. Also in the works is a plan to offer films in the MP4 format, which would allow instant playback on popular 'personal media players', such as Apples video iPod.

York Entertainment titles go high tech
Yea, that design came out sweet. Still one of my favorites. It was a fun one too.
A new concept on the web is ecommerce websites that give their profits to a charity of your choice. The USP is "Why buy from the big businesses, when you can buy from us and help out a charity". It is an interesting concept but will it stick?
Here is a charity landing page design that incorporates this concept. This client sell
Discount Office Supplies. They offer a demo on the price savings and also FREE Registration.
you can sign up and then send all profits to the charity of Alex Designs LLC. JK :-)
I recently had some experience helping some NetSuite clients set up their NetSuite PPC conversion tracking so I thought I would share some tips. Originally we were adding the conversion rate counters to the Thank You page after shopping cart purchase. It just didn't seems accurate as conversions were not adding up correctly. There had to be an issue with the tracking.
So after talking with some other Netsuite website contacts we found the best place to out your PPC conversion rate counters was the Order confirmation message on the Checkout Tab. Here is what it looks like when you ass the PPC conversion rate counters to Netsuite.
Occasionally there are some good tips that come out of the NetSuite Community.
Here is a tutorial on
Netsuite Google Analytics.
I archived it here so I can use it... whenever Google Analytics allows more websites to be added. NeSuite really needs Google Analytics too!
In the previous article on
NetSuite Search Engine Optimization, many web firms are messing up the search engine rankings of new NetSuite Web Sites. In this article I will show you have to quickly fix your rankings if that happens to you.
Take a look at this website that sells
Fireplace Glass Doors. They had 2,190 pages indexed in google which all lead to broken links. So in order to salvage some of that traffic, I made the 404 error page the
NetSuite Site Map. This way the pages can still be found and also the spider will reach the pages we are targeting.
The site map is the probably the most important page to the search engines. Especially with your new Netsuite web site! The main reason is that the site map allows the spiders to reach all of the important pages you wish to target. Plus define the anchors text keywords that are the foundation of your Search Engine Optimization strategy.

Its hard trying to improve conversion rates when your shopping cart is pretty weak. Weak meaning: no flexibility, no customization and no abilty to develop the customer experience. This is where I have learned to hack the front end of the ecommerce solution. Most of the time you can at least edit the header image (hopefully without a fixed HTML size).
So here is how I recently completed my hack "Conversion Rate Design w/ a Weak Shopping Cart". The header image has no fixed with so I increases the height to make the shopping cart look bigger, cleaned up the logo and added some credibility with the CEO ensuring that they will not steal your money. Take look and let me know what you think:

Overall the client has been pleased. The new site has only been up for a month and I recently recieved this comment:
Alex,
In January we had an all time record in sales on our web site. Its only $422.00 but it is growing.
We have collected more email address too. We get, maybe 1 or 2 everday and before the old site produced only 1 per month.
